You and your impeccable acting impacted my bookish, insecure young self in ways you will never know. I loved Star Trek before Voyager, but imagine what it was like for legions of awkward young women, myself included, to see you commanding the screen as Captain Janeway for the first time. Yes, STV plots can be stilted, and Janeway violates the Prime Directive more frequently than her predecessors. But your sensitive, human portrayal of a powerful female scientist and leader stuck with me, and will always have a special place in my nerdy heart of hearts. Your recent turn as resourceful prison chef Red in "Orange is the New Black" has only made me love you more. Thanks for kicking so much ass.
